We just provide the frame
While a lot of work has gone into creating TheWorldCounts we could not have created this site ourselves. We have relied heavily not just on the many different data sources, but also on a myriad of tools that powers the site, and gives it life. This page presents some of these.
Data & information
We are completely dependent on the information made available by a large number of organizations, research institutions, scholars, etc. and would like to extend our deep appreciation and gratitude of the important work done here. It’s important for us to give credit to our sources so if you have any comments or questions concerning the way we link to you or other matters, please let us know.
Sometimes we chose to link to for example wikipedia because it provides a more easy accessible overview for users who want to learn more (for instance regarding data on energy use or world population). Of course, on Wikipedia the original sources are available.
Icons
Most of the icons used for the counters and articles on TheWorldCounts come from Icons8. If you in need for an icon for anything you should check out Icons8 and their incredible collection of more than 90,000 icons. Also, have a look at FontAwesome.
Styling
Every web app needs some style. We have based TheWorldCounts on the Bulma framework. Bulma is a free, open source CSS framework based on Flexbox and used by more than 200,000 developers.
App
TheWorldCounts is made with Angular, an open source frontend framework, built on top of a Ruby on Rails backend, an open source web development framework.
