There are many estimates on how much plastic end up in our oceans each year, ranging from 4.8 mmt to as much as 23 mmt. The exact number is of course impossible to know but many experts point towards the study by PEW. PEW estimates that around 11 million metric tonnes of plastic end up in oceans each year.
